Sergio Ramos took to the stand in the press conference ahead of the Germany friendly. As the man who dons the armband, the Madrid defender outlined the desire 'La Roja' has to lift the coveted World Cup trophy once again: "We've already been champions and we want to be it again. We're the team to beat, as are another four or five teams."
The centre-back has fond memories of the Germans, especially from Euro 2008. "It was a really tough game. We won it thanks the Torres goal, but until the last second they were piling the pressure on."
Saturday's duel is likely to be Ramos' 150th game with Spain, a proud feat for the Andalusian: "There's nothing nicer. I never settle and whilst I have my desire to win, I will carry on representing this team, provided they call me. I have the same ambition and drive as I had on my first day."
"Generations change and there are always new names in football. Now, there are more Real Madrid players than Barca players in the squad but that doesn't make a difference," Ramos said about the strong presence of 'Los Blancos' players representing Spain.
