Hirst was a key figure in England U20's Toulon Tournament victory. However, the 19-year-old striker has been on strike at Wednesday and has refused to commit his future to the club.
In a conversation with 'BBC Radio Sheffield,' the Wednesday manager spoke about Hirst's potential move to United: "It's a decision George will have to make himself. I think it's really difficult when a club as big as Manchester United has an interest in him to say no."
"George must decide how he sees his future and I respect that. A good decision or not a good decision, I cannot answer that."
Whilst Hirst might be put off by the lack of chances he'd get to play first team football, the young Englishman will see United's as a chance to grow alongside some of the world's best.
