The end of the football season will give way to a four hourse race as City, United, Real Madrid and Barcelona all get set to battle it out for Boateng's signature.
Widely regarded as one of the best defender's in Europe, the German has been a formidable presence at the back for Bayern Munich but has seen himself hindered by injuries in their last two Bundesliga campaigns.
Should he opt for the Premier League, it wouldn't be the first time fans have seen Boateng on British soil. The centre-back underwent an unsuccessful spell at City in the 2010-2011 season, only featuring on 16 occasions. A move to the Etihad would enable him to rewrite his underwhelming City history and see him reunited with Ex-Bayern boss Guardiola.
Only time will tell if Boateng chooses to leave Bayern for a new adventure or decides to stay at the forefront of their Bundesliga domination. One thing is certain, however, he'll have a lot of options.
