The Frenchman landed himself in hot water with the Football Association after he posted a photo on Instagram following the win against Burnley, which was captioned "10 vs 12".
The match saw City midfielder Fernandinho sent off for a challenge on Burnley's Joey Gudmundsson which angered Sagna and fellow team-mates as they didn't think the tackle merited a red card.
Players are able to criticise referee's performances, however, it is against the rules to question the integrity or suggest partiality on the referee's behalf.
The FA have therefore decided to punish the France international with a £40,000, but the full-back has avoided a suspension.
This is the pìcture that Sagna posted, which he since deleted from his account.
Bacary Sagna has apologised for his Instagram post, saying it was "in the heat of the moment". Warning/fine likely but no ban. [@hirstclass] pic.twitter.com/7UcNGZg49k
