Pogba was instrumental when United completed a stunning second half comeback to halt City's title celebrations in the Manchester derby. After the game he spoke to 'Sky Sports' and thanked Carrick.
"I give the credit to Michael Carrick," he said. "Because after the game every game he shows me the video and says to make those runs."
"He's someone who's helped me a lot, every time after training he says: 'Come, look at this run, you can kill because nobody can stop you.' "
However, speaking to 'Sky Sports', Carrick has played down his hand in the performance.
"I just kept it simple and said 'this is what you are' and 'this is what you're good at'," he told the English outlet. "But listen, he scored two goals so it's not down to me."
"I'm glad I did [have an impact] because it shows little things do register with players."

Carrick has been at United for eleven years, and will be hanging up his boots at the end of the season, after a career that has yielded 18 trophies. It's not all over for the midfielder though, and he revealed that he would like to go into coaching
"Three or four years ago I probably wouldn't have thought I'd go down that route," he added. "It wasn't until I started my coaching badges that I found that I enjoyed it."
"Eventually, I think I would like to be a manager. It looks easier than it obviously is! But of course it's not easy."
Carrick can add another trophy to his cabinet if United win the FA Cup this year under Jose Mourinho, before he joins his manager's coaching staff. The Englishman believes he is learning from his Mourinho when it comes to coaching.
"There is an element that keeps nagging away at me in games where I think what I would do there and what would I change."
United currently sit second in the Premier League table, and have the chance to strengthen their grip on the top four when they host West Brom on Sunday.
