Neymar never seems to be far away from controversy and sticking to that theme, the 25-year-old attracted criticism after PSG's 8-0 thrashing of Dijon on Wednesday night. The reason: for not allowing team-mate Edinson Cavani to take a penalty that would have allowed the Uruguayan to become PSG's all-time leading goalscorer.
His decision to take the penalty himself was met by whistles from the stands and the player did not attend the team party after the game.
However, Neymar's father and agent have hit back at critics in a public show of support for the Brazilian.
"God knows how it started and what it took to get you here. It was worth watching you grow up. Family and friends listened to everything, applause and boos, and we always saw you walk away with your head held high," he said on his Instagram profile.

Despite his family's support, echoes of the latest controversy between Neymar and Cavani will continue to rumble on with the Uruguayan contemplating a move away from the club to escape the situation.
PSG take on second-placed Lyon on Sunday in an eagerly-anticipated clash between France's top two teams.
