Marcelo: 'Ronaldo is the best player in the world'

His fellow Real Madrid team-mate Marcelo is assured that the Portuguese's fine form will continue into the Champions League semi-finals against Bayern Munich.

He said: ''He [Ronaldo] is the best player in the world. We have absolute confidence in him, as we do in all our players. I'm sure he's going to net more in more games.''

The Portuguese striker scored to draw his side level with Bilbao, and narrowed the margin behind second-spot Atletico Madrid to three points in La Liga.

Marcelo weighed in on his side's performance: ''We gave it all we had. Their goal made things more difficult for us but we retained the ball well and we tried to win the game.''

He added: ''We can't lose our confidence based on one match, we did all we could to win it. We dug in and wanted to take the three points but the draw doesn't take away from our confidence.''
