It seems hard to believe that Messi embarrassing the entire Getafe team single-handedly took place over a decade ago, though what remains even harder to believe is the similarity the strike bore with Diego Maradona's famous second against England at the 1986 World Cup.
Both players set off dribbling in their own half, with Messi taking one more touch and two more seconds than Maradona, who dribbled past one more player that the Barcelona star (6).
Whilst Maradona's goal (along with his blatant act of cheating in the same game) took Argentina to the semi-finals of Mexico '86, Messi's counted for nothing as Getafe dumped Barca out of the 2007 installment of the Copa del Rey in the second leg at the Coliseum.
Aside from what the goals meant, it is safe to say that the two Argentines scored goals that will live long in the memory of football fans everywhere for all the right reasons.
