1. Real Madrid fans protesting
Real fans aren't best pleased by Ronaldo's five-game ban and are planning on making their feelings known by waving white handkerchiefs before kick off. This is a traditional way of showing disquiet in Spain, though it can be somewhat probelmatic in that no-one carries a handkerchief these days. On this occassion though social media has been put to good use to make everyone aware of the plan so expect to see all sorts being waved come kick-off.
2. Barca fans protesting
If it's good enough for them it's good enough for us! You may have come across the hashtag #BartomeuDimiteYa (meaning Batomeu resign now) on social media in recent days. Fans of the Catalan side are upset with Neymar's departure and Barcelona's failure to sign exciting new players and are damding their club president's reignation as a result. Former Barca president Joan Laporta is said to be eyeing a return, with Agusti Benedito trying to collect the 16,000 signatures necessary in order to force a fresh election.
3. A two-day game
Tonight's match kicks off at 11PM local time meaning that Wednesday will turn to Thursday as the second half kicks off. The likes of Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale can expect a serious case of late kick-off insomnia after this one.
4. Messi returns to the scene of 'that' celebration
It seems like yesterday that Messi held his shirt to the Bernabeu crowd after scoring a late, late goal to seal a 3-2 Clásico win. The goal was the 500th of his career and the image will live long in the memory. Cristiano Ronaldo returned the favour at the Nou Camp, but we all know how that turned out...
5. The 'aggro'
It wouldn't be a Clásico without it. Expect to see diving, play acting and all of football's 'dark arts' on display tonight. We complain but secretly it all adds to the Clásico allure.
