The sixteen-year-old almost ruined Roma legend Francesco Totti's farewell match in May when he put Genoa 1-0 up, beoming the first player born in 2001 to score in Serie A and the Italian top-flight's youngest ever scorer in the process.
Roma eventually came back to win that match, but just in case people had forgotten about his potential, Pellegri issued a timely reminder on Sunday as he scored twice for Genoa against Lazio after joining the fray as a substitute, only for his side to fall to a 3-2 defeat due to the a double from Italy international Ciro Immobile.
The goals saw Pellegri break a record that had stood for 86 years to become the youngest player to score twice in one game in the top division of Italian football.
Pellegri, who is the son of Genoa manager Marco Pellegri, scored in the 57th and 73rd minutes, before Ciro Immobile hit back with a double of his own to seal the victory for the visitors.
The goals took Immobile to nine in six in all competitions so far this season but all the talk after the game was about the youngster Pellegri.
