Spanish publication 'Diario GOL' reports that 'los blancos' are closing in on the signing of PSG right-back Thomas Meunier.
Following Danilo's move to Manchester City, strength in depth at right full-back is the only obvious weakness in Zinedine Zidane's side, with Belgian international Meunier the man Zidande has chosen to fill the void created by the Brazilian's departure.
The fee is expected to be in the region of €30m and it is understood that the deal will be completed by Sunday at the latest.
The PSG man is seen as a defender very much in the Dani Carvajal mould. His main attribute is his quality going forward, he is a defender who prefers to ask questions of the opposition than have questions asked of him. The Belgian is robust, good technically and is a force in the air owing to his 6'3" frame.
Like many modern full-backs, Meunier started his career as a winger, before a series of managers saw his potential as a defender. At just 25, the player still has plenty of time to improve and it is hoped that he will go on to improve past the level of Carvajal.
The Belgian internationaal shared the right-back spot with Serge Aurier in the French capital last season, playing 22 Ligue 1 games, six Champions League games, four French Cup games, three League Cup games and the French Super Cup. In total he made 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and laying on seven more.
