Portugal V Chile - As it happened
The End
Thanks for joining us tonight, keep your eyes peeled for our match report, we'll be back tomorrow with live text coverage of the other semi-final between Mexico and Germany.
FT: Portugal 0-0 Chile AET (Chile win 3-0 on penalties)
A good game all told, very disappointing from Portugal's point of view not to score a single penalty though. Will Ronaldo regret not taking one earlier? Anyway, Chile go through to the final where they will play either Mexico of Germany.
NANI MISSES 3-0 CHILE WIN!
Bravo saves down to his left this time and Chile are through to the final!
SANCHEZ SCORES 3-0
Rui Paricio goes his left, Sanchez goes to his right.
MOUTINHO MISSES 2-0
Bravo saves again down to his right!
ARANGUIZ SCORES 2-0
Not the best penalty but Rui Patricio goes the wrong way.
QUARESMA MISSES 1-0
Bravo saves away to his right. A nice height for the goalkeeper.
VIDAL SCORES 1-0
He sends the keeper the wrong way and blasts it home.
Chile will go first
A battle of wills now
I wonder if these two have been practicing penalties?
FT: Portugal 0-0 Chile AET
Penalties it is!
1 minute added on
Chile change
Fuenzalida comes on for Isla
SO CLOSE FOR CHILE
Silva keeps a cross alive at the far post and pulls it back to Vidal on the edge of the box, he hits it well and his effort cannons back of the post, Rodriguez tries to bury the rebound but he hits the bar with Rui Particio beaten. Fine margins.
3 minutes to go here
Are we destined for penalties?
Portugal change
Gomes off, Martins on.
Vidal is down in a heap
He got caught on the ankle by Andre Gomes, looked painful that.
Yellow card
Soares is booked for bringing down Sanchez with a lazy challenge.
Penalty appeal for Chile
Silva is straight into things, going down under Fonte's challenge. The referee is adamant it is not a foul but I've seen them given.
Chile substitution
Silva (yes, another one) comes on for Hernandez.
Ouch
Alves catches Hernandez with his forearm and is booked for doing so.
Maybe not
The referee has changed his mind.
Dangerous free kick for Portugal
Eliseu is brought down by Isla on the corner of the box.
Here we go again
Portugal get us underway in the 2nd half of extra-time.
A good stat
If the game gets as far as penalties it is worth noting that Chile have won both of their last 2 Copa America titles on penalties. Interesting.
HT in ET: Portugal 0-0 Chile
Still nothing between these two.
Half time in extra time
1 minute added on
Another good interception
Chile counter, Beausejour gets down the left and pulls the ball back to the edge of the box but with Aranguiz waiting to pounce, Carvalho gets back to clear.
Vital interception
Gomes looks to feed Ronaldo in the box but Aranguiz is there to clear the ball away.
Portugal make a change
Adrien Silva makes way for the experienced Joao Moutinho.
Chance
Fonte rises highest from a corner at one end but can't find the target before Chile go on the attack. Isla's ball in is met by Vidal but his header is deflected into the hands of Rui Patricio.
Yellow card
Fonte is booked for blocking off Sanchez.
CLOSE FOR CHILE
Sanchez sends the ball wide to Isla on the right, he reutrns the favour with a cross and Sanchez heads the ball a hair's breath wide of the right hand post.
Gomes to get the winner?
His shooting has been sh..ocking so far, could it be one of those days where he pops up with the winner?
Portugal threaten
Chile think they have cleared the danger when Quaresma's cross is prevented from reaching Ronaldo but the ball drops to Andre Gomes on the edge of the box but he shoots over.
Extra-time begins
Chile get us underway
Who will emerge victorious?
Chile looked to drop off physically in that second half but they do have 2 of their 3 substitutions left plus the '4th substitutiton'. Meanwhile Portugal have already taken off the dangerous Bernardo Silva and their more orthodox centre-forward option Andre Silva.
FT: Portugal 0-0 Chile
We go to extra-time here in Kazan.
3 minutes added on
Looking like ET here
Just a minute of regulation time to go and still nnothing to separate the sides.
Almost!
The new man is almost in straight away but he can't quite reach the ball on the edge of the box and is eased off it by Bruno Alves.
Chile substitution
Vargas is replaced by Rodriguez
CHANCE PORTUGAL
Ronaldo gets up above Gary Medel at the back post but his header is just wide. Medel actually got a touch on it before it got to Ronaldo.
Chance!
Andre Gomes bursts free of a tackle on the edge of the box and generates space for a shot but he fires over from 18 yards. The referee had already blown for a handball by Gomes in the build-up as it happens.
Another Portugal change
The impressive Bernardo Silva is replaced by Ricardo Quaresma.
Nearly!
Bernardo Silva looks to latch onto Soares' ball in behind but it's just too long for him and Bravo collects.
Into the last 10 here
Can either side find a winner?
Vidal is up for this
He flies into a tackle and wins Chile a throw before turning to the crowd of Chileans and screaming "vamos", that's what we like to see!
Portugal substitution
Nani does come on, replacing Andre Silva. Can the former Manchester United man be the matchwinner?
Bravo called into action
Portugal finally put a corner in the box and Bravo is forced to punch clear.
Portugal are preparing a change
Nani looks set to come on.
Close for Ronaldo
Portugal counter but Ronaldo's effort from the edge of the box is deflected just wide by Jara.
Almost!
Sanchez springs into life down the right and puts a good ball into the box but Soares rises just higher than Vidal to clear.
Well wide
Vargas tries his luck on the turn from 30 yards but drags it well wide.
Another short corner from Portugal
Nothing comes from it. It's a strange tactic considering the height adantage they have today.
High, wide, not at all handsome
Ronaldo's free kick clears the wall and then some.
Dangerous free kick for Portugal
Eliseu goes down under Vargas' challenge and it's a free kick. Definitely in Ronaldo's range.
CLOSE CHILE
Vidal takes aim from 30 yards and fires a piledriver just over the bar. Very close indeed.
Handball? No.
Bernardo Silva glides past a couple of Chile players before giving the ball to Ronaldo who does the same, he feeds Andre Silva and when his cross is blocked he appeals for hands but the referee is unmoved.
Chile starting to dominate possession
59%/41% in their favour now. Possession doesn't win football matches though.
CLOSE FOR CHILE
Vargas tries an audacious scissor-kick from the penalty spot and forces Rui Patricio into a good save. Portugal go straight down the other end and Ronaldo forces a save from Bravo. Things are hotting up here.
Good defending from Chile
Portugal look like they are about to get in twice but are met with strong, committed challenges from the Chile defence. Andre Silva went down holding his head there after clashing heads with Isla but it looks like he'll be fine.
Chance Chile
Beausejour crosses from deep on the left and finds Vidal, but the cross is always a bit high for him and his header goes well over.
Waste
Portugal have a free kick in a good position on the right but instead of cross, Bernardo Silva squares the ball to Andre Gomes who dinks the ball in and out for a goal kick. Ronaldo has a face like thunder.
Yellow card for Hernandez
He goes into the book for catching Carvalho as the Portuguese slid in to win the ball.
Andre Gomes has a go
He has the ball just outside the box and elects to shoot but his effort never locks like testing Bravo. Not sure he's hit one cleanly all night come to think of it.
Offside
Isla looks to find Vidal in behind but he times his run poorly and is flagged offside.
And we're off again
No changes for either side at half-time
And here they come
Portugal will get us back underway.
The teams are back in the tunnel
They should re-appear shortly
HT Observations
Soares has played well down the right for Portugal, keeping Sanchez quiet but also still overlapping with regularity. Isla is looking similarly accomplished a right-back for Chile. Bernardo Silva has looked very sharp going forward for Portugal with quick feet and good delivery. The game has been slightly cagey at times but expect that to change if either side can find a goal.
HT stats
Chile have edged possession 56%/44% however Portugal have had more efforts on goal. There's only one stat that matters though.
HT: Portugal 0-0 Chile
Both sides had good early chances but it's still all-square as it stands.
1 minute added on
Chance Portugal
A corner comes in from the right and Andre Silva meets it at the near post but he heads over.
Yellow card for Andre Silva
He wants a penalty after he goes down in the box challenging for a header, when he doesn't get one he tells the referee what he thinks of the decision and is booked.
Sanchez has been very quiet so far
Other than that ball into Vargas early on he hasn't had much of an impact on the game.
Good defending from Aranguiz
Cedric gets a cross in from the right and with Ronaldo lurking Aranguiz rises highest to clear. He's everywhere at the moment.
Yellow card
Carvalho is booked for a tackle on Vidal. Not sure how much contact there was there personally though it was certainly late.
Should do better
Sanchez plays Beausejour in down the left, his cross finds Vidal, who misses an attempted bicycle kick allowing the ball to run to the back post. Aranguaiz once again arrives from deep but he slices his shot well wide.
Close for Chile
Vidal is brought down on half way and immediately springs to his feet to take the free kick quickly. He finds Isla unmarked on the right. His cross finds Aranguiz's run from miedfield but his header loops just wide.
Ronaldo isn't happy
He gets brought down by Isla as he looks to break but the referee says nothing doing.
Jara is booked
The Chilean appeared to stand on Andre Silva's ankle as he tried to bring the ball down. He should be okay to continue though.
Portugal looking dangerous on the counter
Chile lose the ball and red shirts pour forward, Bernardo Silva crosses after good work from Ronaldo but Chile manage to clear.
I spy a Mexican wave
Great if you're watching on TV, quickly tiresome if you're in the crowd.
Optimistic
A corner is clear out to Jean Beausejour about 30 yards out, he has a go and catches it decently but it flies well wide
Will Portugal profit from set-pieces?
There's a big height difference between the two sides, none of Chile's back four reach the six-foot mark. An aerial barrage must be tempting?
A bit of argy bargy here
Vidal and Bruno Alves don't appear to be the best of friends. Nothing major though and neither player is booked.
Keep it down!
A corner is cleared as far as Andre Gomes but he fires well over the bar from the edge of the box.
GREAT SAVE BRAVO
Ronaldo gets in down the left after latching on to a long ball, he crosses low with his left foot, finding Andre Gomes unmarked at the back post but Brave makes a point-blank save.
CHANCE CHILE
Oh what an opportunity. A great reverse pass from Sanchez puts Vargas in one-on-one but he fires straight at Rui Patricio. Replays show that Vargas may have been slightly offside.
Half chance for Portugal
The free kick is clear but Nani's puts the ball back into the mixer. Ronaldo heads wide though.
Free kick near the corner flag
Isla clumsily brings down Andre Silva
First effort of the game
Andre Gomes tries his luck from range but it's no problem for Bravo
And we're off
Two teams start, only one can emerge victorious. Game on.
All set in Kazan
Primed and ready here, Chile will get us underway.
Time for the anthems
Portugal first, then Chile. Very impressive from the South Americans.
Both teams unbeaten until now
That will have to change tonight. Chile beat Cameroon 2-0 and drew 1-1 with both Germany and Australia in the group stages. Whilst Portugal drew 2-2 with Mexico before beating Russia and New Zealand 1-0 and 4-0 respectively. Will we see goals tonight?
15 minutes to go here in Kazan
Both teams have done their warm-ups so it's back to the dressing room for some last-minute tactical tweaks. Shaping up to be a good one this.
Players missing for Portugal
Portugal are without Raphael Guerreiro and Pepe. The former misses out through injury, whilst the latter is, unsurprisingly, suspended.

No surprise that all eyes will be on these two tonight, Ronaldo has been named MOTM in all 3 of Portugal's games so far.
